Porsche has confirmed its Macan SUV model by releasing a first sketch of the vehicle on Thursday, February 16, 2012. Macan was derived by the German automaker from an Indonesian word for Tiger.

Production of Macan, reportedly the fifth Porsche model after the larger Cayenne SUV, will start next year. The Porsche Macan sketch suggests a low, sleek model very similar to an Audi Q5 model.

Experts reportedly believed that Macan will be powered by a 2.0 and 3.0 liter gasoline and diesel engines. A Macan Turbo S may also be in the works according to analysts.
Porsche explained that Macan‘s animal roots of “suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics” characterizes the new SUV model. The announcement of Macan, observers believed, may be a head-on collision to the larger Maserati Kubang SUV, introduced late last year. Maserati derived Kubang from the name of a wind that blows through Java, Indonesia.
